Jim Kane, 81, of Long Grove, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at home.
James Francis Kane was born December 29, 1940, in Davenport, Iowa, to Francis “Bud” and Florence (Crowley) Kane. He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in DeWitt, and went to work on the family farm with his dad in rural Long Grove. He was the third generation to farm there. On April 29, 1966, Jim married Peggy Bock at St. Ann Catholic Church, Long Grove. The couple then resided on the farm, where they raised their two daughters. Peggy preceded him in death on October 4, 2019.
Jim loved watching old westerns, fishing, deer watching & hunting. He also enjoyed giving the grandchildren rides on the tractor, and keeping them safe from the “gators” in the creek.
Surviving are his daughters, Kathy (Virgil) Adam of Olin, and Michelle (Leon) Kiggins of DeWitt; grandchildren, Krystle (Tommy) Dearth, Kory Adam, Theresa (fiancé Justin Caven) Kiggins and James (Allison Dake) Kiggins; a great-grandson, Kayden Dearth, and two great-grandchildren on the way; a step-great-granddaughter Emily Caven; a sister, Kathleen Grimes; and 4 nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sue (Roger) Weller.
A private family service will be held.
