Harold Beuthien, 89, of Grand Haven in Eldridge, Iowa, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 11, 2023.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at New Liberty Cemetery.
Harold was born February 6, 1934, to Edgar and Mabel (Meyer) Beuthien in Davenport, Iowa. He attended a one-room schoolhouse in rural Wheatland. After helping his father farm, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Austria during the Korean Conflict. Harold was married to Helga Kain, with whom he had 2 children, Joanne and Robert. They later divorced. He then married Mary Jane Cochran, with whom he had 3 sons, Norman, David, and Donald. They later divorced. He was then married to Lo Ree Marten, who preceded him in death in 2012. He enjoyed his later years with his special friend, Luella Buri, until her passing in November of 2022. Harold established a fertilizer plant in Wheatland, which he owned and operated for nearly 50 years.
Harold enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and trapping, and spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Joanne (Sam) Lee of DeWitt, Robert (Joy) of Hartsburg, Missouri, David (Julie) of DeWitt, Donald (Tammy) of Valley View, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson; siblings, Joan Bartlett, Rosie Farenhkrug, and Roy (Catherine), and a sister-in-law, Susie Jalloh.
In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents, a son, Norman, grandchildren, Austin Lee and Bridgette Beuthien, brothers, Larry and Kenneth, brothers-in-law, Bob Bartlett and Dick Farenhkrug, and his special friend, Lu.
