Gerrie Jacobi

Gerrie Jacobi, 92, of Wheatland, formerly of Calamus, Iowa, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023, with family by her side, at Wheatland Manor.

Geraldine Elaine Jacobi was born on May 26, 1930, to Henry and Katherine (Gohlmann) Stueland of rural Calamus, Iowa. She graduated in 1948 from Calamus High School, and attended nursing school in Moline, Illinois. Gerrie married her high school sweetheart, Robert Herman “Bob” Jacobi, on March 19, 1950, at Ellington Air Force Base in Houston, Texas. Following his military service, the couple resided in rural Calamus, where they raised their 5 children. Gerrie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was a charter member of the Christian Free Lutheran Church in Wheatland, where she was actively involved. Gerrie was a woman of strong faith, committed prayer warrior and most importantly, taught her children to follow Jesus. She loved caring for her family, and her favorite pastime was snuggling grandbabies. Gerrie and Bob spent many hours together, reading the Bible, attending grandchildrens’ sporting events, and watching the Cubs.

Surviving are her husband, Bob; children, Randy (Penny) Jacobi, Wheatland, David (Kim) Jacobi, Calamus, Jeff (Dodie) Jacobi, Calamus, Kathryn (Todd) Rohling, Wheatland, Jay (Julie) Jacobi, West Des Moines; grandchildren, Brooke (Tom) DiIulio, Caleb (Jaclyn) Jacobi, Drew Jacobi, Justin (Jessie) Jacobi, Kara (Terry) Nadermann, Megan (Chris) Litscher, Joshua Jacobi, Courtney (Adam) Osier, Krista (Chris) Blackburn, Kendra (Justin) Long, Daniel Jacobi, Allison (Samuel) Gerrard, and Luke Jacobi; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and one on the way; sister-in-law, Julie Wulf; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Karolyn Lou, and brothers, Victor (Evelyn) Stueland and Henry (Georgia) Stueland.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2023, at the Christian Free Lutheran Church in Wheatland, with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery, Calamus. The family will greet relatives and friends at a luncheon following in the church basement.
