Geri Brehmer, 71, of McCausland, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the service time of 12:00 noon Saturday, October 29, 2022, at McCausland United Methodist Church, Pastor JaeHee Lee officiating. Interment will be in the McCausland Cemetery. A lunch will follow in the church hall.
Geri was born April 12, 1951, in DeWitt, Iowa, to Gerald and Gloria “Tootie” (Stutzel) Pool. After graduating from North Scott High School in 1969, she attended beauty school at Stewart’s School of Cosmetology and was a hairdresser for over 30 years. She married Steven Brehmer on November 7, 1970, at McCausland United Methodist Church. The couple resided in McCausland where they raised their two children. In 1991 Geri opened Sweet Celebrations, where she made cakes for birthdays, graduations, and weddings for generations of families in the area. Steve preceded her in death on September 6, 2022.
Geri enjoyed reading, cross stitching nightly, crafting, customizing recipes for baked goods, and spending time with her granddaughter, Laina.
She is survived by her children, Kerri (Curt Smith) Brehmer of Camanche, and Toby (Kate) Brehmer of Eldridge; grandchildren, Laina, Noah, Austin, and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Daxten and Finnick; sister, Vicki (Larry) Marshall, brother, Lonnie (Terry) Pool, a brother-in-law, Al Schwerdtfeger; nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friend, Barb Hintze.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Gerald Ostermeier, and a sister, Shirley Schwerdtfeger.
