Gerald “Jerry” Klinefelter, 93, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa.
Gerald Ray Klinefelter was born October 2, 1932, in Green Mountain, Iowa, to Ray Benjamin and Esther Carmen (Johnson) Klinefelter. He graduated from Green Mountain School and was united in marriage to Ardyce Darlene Carter on October 18, 1952. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and simple joys. Jerry retired from Thermogas in 1995, and went on to work for Neumiller Farms for many years. A man who enjoyed staying busy, he found happiness in gardening, camping, and fixing just about anything that needed repair. Jerry was known for his generous spirit, playful sense of humor, and warm smile. He loved making others laugh and will be remembered as a jokester who was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Camanche, and was active with the Masons and Shriners.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Ardyce Klinefelter of DeWitt; children, Patricia (Steve) Evans, Cheryl Howard (Terry White), Lorrie (Dennis) Johnson, Tim Klinefelter, and Brian (Stacy) Klinefelter; grandchildren, Matthew (Helaina) Stonerock, Andrew Stonerock, Amber Good, Ben Howard, Michael (Callie) Howard, Jim Sellers, Ryan (Barbara) Sellers, Kyle Klinefelter, Alec Klinefelter, Seth Klinefelter, and Quinn Klinefelter; great-grandchildren, Patrick Stonerock, Nathaniel Stonerock, Ellington Stonerock, Tyler Good, Aiden Good, Weldon Howard, Natalie Howard, Evie Sellers, Oliver Klinefelter, and Graham Klinefelter; along with extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Joan Klinefelter; his parents, Ray and Esther Klinefelter; sister, Juanita Phillips Johnson; and brother, Marvin Klinefelter.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 15, 2026, at St. Mark's Methodist Church in Camanche, Iowa. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the church at 808 3rd St, Camanche, IA 52730.
Cremation is being provided by the Schultz Funeral Home family at their crematory in DeWitt. Arrangements are in the care of Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Condolences may be expressed at www.schultzfuneralhomes.com
