George Maurice Seastrand was born at Jane Lamb Hospital in Clinton, Iowa, on April 20, 1948, to Victor “Vic” and Mildred “Milly” (Carber) Seastrand. Bus grew up a country boy throughout his childhood. He started school in a one room schoolhouse south of DeWitt, and later graduated from high school in 1966 in Dewitt. Upon graduating, Bus joined the US Navy, serving during the Viet Nam War. Following his honorable discharge, he started working at Chemplex near Clinton. He married Rita Koslofsky on September 5, 1969. They had one son, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Bus and Rita lived in California for 22 years, where they worked until retirement. They then moved back to Rita’s hometown of Calamus. In December of 2015 Bus lost his loving wife Rita. Things were not the same without her, he was never the same. He was a sweetheart, but also had a stubborn side to him. Let’s just say “the Seastrand” in him came out. He was lucky to have his caretaker Seth to look after him and give such good care. Everything he did for him was done with a whole lot of love and care.
He is survived by his caregiver Seth Bull, sister Vickie O’Neill, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rita, parents Vic and Milly Seastrand, in-laws Lawrence and Myrtle Koslofsky, a baby sister Mildred Maxine, many family members and friends.
Arrangements are in the care of Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Condolences may be expressed at www.schultzfuneralhomes.com
