Gayla Haferbier

Gayla Haferbier, 69, of Charlotte, Iowa, died late Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in Clinton, Iowa, following a brief illness.

Visitation will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte from 9:00 until 10:15 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2024. A Service of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the church with the Rev. Lloyd Reddage officiating. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Gayla was born November 17, 1954, in Clinton, Iowa to Louis and Ramona (Mumm) Haferbier. She graduated in 1973 from Northeast Community High School in Goose Lake, and later received an associate degree in Secretarial Science from Clinton Community College in 1994. Gayla worked for Mississippi Bell II in human resources and customer service for 14 years. For the last 15 years, she worked for Clinton Community College as a receptionist and switchboard operator.

Gayla enjoyed playing cards, served as president of the Senior Citizens of Charlotte, being active at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Charlotte, and spending time with friends and family.

Surviving are her daughter, Jodi Bowens of Belvidere, Illinois; grandchildren, Kiana, Kaleb, Maleah and Monet Bowens; a great-granddaughter, Julika Gutierrez; brothers, Scott (Julie) Haferbier of Charlotte and Brett Haferbier of Clinton, sister-in-law, Rhonda Haferbier of Phoenix, Arizona; nieces and nephews, Roger (Roxana) Haferbier, Melissa (Ian) Beer, Mitchell Haferbier and Matthew (Courtney) Haferbier; great-nieces and nephews, Madison and Bayleigh Haferbier, Tori Miller, and Ava Beer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Arlyn Haferbier, and an aunt, Lucielle Wulf.
