Frances Hill Wierema Obituary

Mrs. Frances Hill Wierema, 100, formerly of Low Moor, Iowa, died early Tuesday morning, September 22, 2020, at Maggie's House Assisted Living, DeWitt.

Mrs. Hill, the former Frances Elaine Hogg was born February 12, 1920, in DeWitt to Andrew and Ella (Nielsen) Hogg.  Frances was a graduate of Clinton High School and resided all of her life in Clinton County.  She married Howard Hill in Clinton on December 30, 1937.  The couple resided in Low Moor where they raised their two daughters and owned and operated a livestock trucking company, Howard Hill Trucking.  Howard preceded Frances in death April 15, 1983.  She later married George Wierema and he preceded her in death December 28, 2003. 

Frances was a longtime and active member of the Order of Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron.  She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church where she served as secretary and was active in many phases of church work.  Frances enjoyed the farm-the black dirt, the cars, trucks and motors as traveling with her family.  She devoted much of her life to Eastern Star activities where she found great joy. 

Surviving are her daughter, Jean Hill; a granddaughter and her husband, Kelly and Brian Marburger of Miles; great-grandchildren, Josh (Alyssa) Marburger, Kaitlin (Jacob) Wilke, Colin Marburger and Will Marburger; a great-great-granddaughter, Jaydynn Zajicek. 

Preceding Frances in death in addition to her parents and husbands are a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Larry Nagel; a grandson, Darren Nagel and a son-in-law, BJ Alvis.

Visitation will be at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 12 Noon until 12:45 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2020.  A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Grace Knapper officiating.  Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. 

Pallbearers will be Josh Marburger, Alyssa Marburger, Kaitlin Wilke, Jacob Wilke, Colin Marburger and Will Marburger.
