Eleanor Lee Hinrichs

Eleanor Lee Hinrichs, 75, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Schultz Funeral Home in DeWitt, with a visitation one hour prior.

Memorials are suggested to the family for future dedication.

Eleanor Lee Johannsen was born on March 29, 1948, in Clinton, Iowa, to Anton “Tony” and Leona (Zalazinski) Johannsen. She attended DeWitt Central Schools and later worked for Iowa Mutual Insurance Company in DeWitt until retirement. She married Michael (Gene) Hinrichs on June 12, 1965. He preceded her in death on September 21, 2020. The couple resided in DeWitt, where they raised their son, Christopher Eugene.

Mike, a passionate Green Bay Packers fan, successfully persuaded Eleanor to join him in supporting the team, along with the Iowa Hawkeyes. In earlier years, they enjoyed line dancing at Fairyland. She also enjoyed shopping and eating out.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Dawn Hinrichs of DeWitt; a sister, Barb (Bill) Dies of DeWitt, and sister-in-law, Diane (Bob) Wuestenberg of Johnstown, Colorado; nephews and nieces and their families, Jay and Heidi Dies and their son, Dylan, Jena and Nick Byorum and their sons, Hunter and Henry, and Jared and Lea Ann Dies and their children, Brady and Brynlee, Jeff and Erin Wuestenberg and their children, Hannah and Emma, Greg and Danna Wuestenberg and their son Lucas, and Sarah and Jay Lewis and their son, Robbie; several cousins.

Preceding Eleanor in death were her husband Mike, her parents, in-laws, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
