Dwight Wiese, 45, of Grand Mound, Iowa, died Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, surrounded by loved ones.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Emmaus Road Church in DeWitt. Friends and family are welcome to gather before the service at 10:00 a.m.
Dwight Elmer Wiese was born November 13, 1979, to Douglas and Tami (Braunschweig) Wiese, in Park Ridge, Illinois. Dwight graduated from Calamus-Wheatland High School in 1997. Shortly after welcoming their first child, Dominic, Dwight married the love of his life, Amanda Colburn, on July 18, 1998. A year later, they welcomed their daughter, Jenna. Dwight started working in an auto shop before taking classes at Kaplan College, earning a degree in Information Technology. He then began his career at UnityPoint Health, where he worked for 18 years.
In addition to being a devoted Christian, loving husband, and father, Dwight enjoyed playing with the praise team at Emmaus Road Church, smoking meats, working on project cars, caring for his five dogs and four cats. He was also a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan, cheering them on to their three most recent Super Bowl victories.
Throughout Dwight’s time in and out of hospitals during the final years of his life, he would never complain and would always make sure that others were being taken care of before he thought of himself.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Amanda of Grand Mound; son Dominic of DeWitt; daughter Jenna (Nick) Thompson of Cedar Rapids; dogs Chief, Captain, Phoenix, Rogue and Hope; cats Spaz, Ms. Meow, Kit-Kat and Gandolf; his sister, Talia (Brent) Eberhart and their children; other family members, and his church family.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dale and Peggy.
Arrangements are in the care of Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Condolences may be expressed at www.schultzfuneralhomes.com
