Dorothy "Dot" Hageman

Dorothy “Dot” Hageman, 72, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024, in her home, due to complications from pulmonary fibrosis.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, with the Rev. Fr. Stephen Page officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Dorothy Marie (Mettille) Hageman was born December 18, 1951, to Carlton and Dorothy (Luchterhand) Mettille in Dubuque, Iowa. After graduating from Visitation Academy, she attended junior college in the Twin Cities. Dot was united in marriage to Dennis Hageman on April 20, 1974, at the Church of the Nativity in Dubuque. The couple resided in DeWitt, where they raised their 3 children.

Dot loved spending time with her family and friends, taking trips in the camper with Denny, and playing card games. Her Catholic faith was incredibly important to her. Loved ones will miss Dot’s thoughtfulness, gentle spirit, and delicious meals.

Surviving are her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Denny; children and their spouses, Michelle (Bek), Mark (Colleen), and Sam (Jennifer); grandchildren, Eleanor and Julian; a sister, Ruth (Jim) McGrath; a sister-in-law, Pat Mettille; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Paul (Harriette) Mettille, and Ambrose Mettille.
