Doris Mae Bormann

Doris Mae Bormann, 87, formerly of Goose Lake, Iowa, passed away peacefully, Friday December 29, 2023, in her home at Maggie’s Place, DeWitt.

A Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Schultz Funeral Home in DeWitt. Private committal at Preston Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Doris Mae Bormann was born September 25, 1936, in Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of Orville Owen and Leatha Alberta (Olmstead) Breeden. She married Kenneth John Bormann on May 1, 1957 in Maquoketa, Iowa. Kenneth preceded her in death on August 3, 2015. Doris was a homemaker, raising 7 children, and also worked at the Preston Creamery, and Swiss Colony in DeWitt.

She is survived by her 7 children, Gail (Martin) Schluns of Camanche, Bruce (Faye) Bormann of Reno, Nevada, Bryan Bormann of Stephen City, Virginia, Craig (Susan) Bormann of DeWitt, Chuck (Cathy) Bormann of Clinton, Christopher (Veronica) Bormann of Omaha, Nebraska, and Nickolas (Victoria) Bormann of DeWitt; 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Kenneth) Banowetz; many nieces and nephews; in-laws, Connie Bormann, Bonnie (Ives) Grossman, Verlyn (Jane) Bormann, Beverly Cook, and Shirly Ritenour.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded death by her parents, siblings, Dale, Shirley, and Delta, and in-laws, Duane Bormann, Richard Bormann, Jr., Leonard Bormann, Steven Ritenour, and Patricia Reedy.

Memorials can be made to the DeWitt Community Library and the DeWitt Community Hospital Foundation.
