Donald Meggers, 92, of Park Vista in Camanche, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on May 6, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Donald Lee Meggers was born on September 15, 1930, on the family farm in Clinton County, Iowa, to Christian and Florence (Lee) Meggers.
Donald graduated from DeWitt High School in 1949 and on September 3, 1950, he married Dorothy Fatchett at the DeWitt United Methodist Church. Together, they raised six children.
For 26 years, Donald worked at John Deere as an assembler, retiring in 1991. He also farmed most of his life, a passion he enjoyed and shared with others. Donald loved talking farming and sharing his knowledge with others. In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Meggers; his children, Nyla (Rick) Seamer of Goose Lake, Nancy (Bill) Paulsen of Pueblo West, Colorado, Mark (Colleen) Meggers of Clinton, Ross Meggers of DeWitt, Mona (Steve) Whelan of Elkland, Missouri, and Rena (David) Farrell of Bryant; 17 grandchildren, Leslie (Pat), Lane (Shannon), Lacey, Nina (Barry), Nicole, Cory (Amy), Jesse, Justin (Kayla), Karleen (Kurt), Deena (Brad), Amanda, Sara (Josh), Adam, Morgan (Thomas), Josh, Jake (Laura), Jared (Joslyn); 31 great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Stetson, Saydie, Ella, Eyan, Carter, Cora, Savana (Jesse), Shayden, Kailee, Christian, Hannah (Audrey), Chase, Maddie, Justin, Teagan, Taylor, Emerie, Brandon, Allison, Layna, Drew, Lindsey, Sam, Emily, Luke, Ashton, Levi, Dylan, John, and James; and 2 great-great-grandchildren, Dalaynie and Damon; siblings, Betty Brammerlo, Gary Meggers, and Linda Goodman.
He was preceded in death by his parents a brother, Harold (Sara) Meggers, and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Brammerlo.
A Memorial Service will be held in June, on Friday the 9th, at 11:00 a.m. at the DeWitt United Methodist Church, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
