Diane Mary Trimble

Diane Trimble, 87, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 20, 2023

Funeral Mass will held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, with visitation one hour prior. The Rev. Fr. Stephen Page will officiate.  Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

Diane Mary Hansen was born July 18, 1935, to Edward and Clara (Kershner) Hansen in Clinton, Iowa. She graduated from Elvira High School in 1953. Diane was united in marriage on June 11, 1955 at St. Mary’s church in Clinton, Iowa to John R. Trimble.  Together they raised 5 children and built a family business in advertising.  She was also active in the community working at Barnes grocery store, the Candlelight Restaurant and Ekstrand Elementary school.

Diane was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. Her greatest joys were hosting family gatherings, coffee with friends and cooking for loved ones.  She was an avid Cubs fan and loved music by Danny O’Donnell and Mollie B Polka and made time for bowling and card games. Everyone will miss her infectious smile, her positivity and whit, and her delicious homemade cookies. She was a woman of strong faith and raised her family in a home full of love.

She is survived by her children, Tim (Jennifer) Trimble of Burnsville, Minnesota, Steve (Carleen Windt) Trimble of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Julie (David) Cabel of Bettendorf, Iowa, Mark (Jayne) Trimble of Batavia, Illinois, and Jackie Meland of DeWitt, Iowa; grandchildren, Tom Trimble, Tana Steiner, Olivia Ingalls, Matthew and Danielle Cabel, Louis, Daniel and Michael Trimble, Marissa Schmidtke, Miranda and Mitchell Meland; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-laws, Margaret Hansen and Janice Hansen; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, John, her brothers Edward and Gene, and her twin brother, David.
