Dennis Charles Mumm

Dennis Mumm, 81, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully, October 17, 2021, in the comfort of his home.

Dennis Charles Mumm was born October 19, 1939, in Omaha, Nebraska to Albert and Charlotte (Tracy) Mumm. He grew up in McCausland, Iowa, and graduated from DeWitt High School in 1958. Dennis worked at Iowa Mutual Insurance 42 years, where he met his wife LaRaine. He married Dorothy LaRaine Busch, September 28, 1963, in Lost Nation.  Their union was blessed with sons, Brian and Michael. LaRaine preceded him in death on March 28, 2020.

Dennis served in the Iowa National Guard from 1962-1968. He was a Past Master of DeWitt Lodge #34, Past Worthy Patron of Golden Star #283, Past Rainbow Dad for Rainbow Girls Assembly #102, and Past Master of Crossroads Lodge #677. Dennis was a 50 year member of the DeWitt United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of the Iowa Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Michelle Mumm of DeWitt; his grandchildren, Allen Mumm and Devin Mumm and many others who claimed him as “Grandpa Dennis;” a sister, Jeanette (Steven) Nantz of Davenport and sister-in-law, Theresa Mumm of Omaha, Nebraska; other extended relatives and friends. He will also be missed by his special friends at Maggie’s House.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Brian Mumm, and brother, John Mumm.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Friday, October 22, 2021, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021, at DeWitt United Methodist Church. Burial following at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the DeWitt Referral Center, the Shriners, or any charity benefiting children.
