Dean Marlowe, 63, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Wednesday morning, August 19, 2020, at Genesis Medical Center-DeWitt.
David Dean Marlowe was born December 15, 1956, to David Andrew and Dorothea Dardis (Stevens) Marlowe. Dean was a graduate of Northeast High School, Goose Lake. Following graduation he worked various hands on jobs. Dean's passion was assisting area farmers on their farms. He worked for River Valley and FS and later DAC, Inc., Maquoketa and Skyline Center, Clinton. Dean married Robin Lamp November 6, 1976, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte and the couple were blessed with two daughters. He later married Jennifer Dahl July 24, 1993, at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt and this marriage was blessed with two sons.
He was a sports enthusiast, with a passion for Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball. Dean enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren in their showing of cattle in 4H at the county fair. He also enjoyed playing BINGO and working jigsaw puzzles while at Westwing, as well as pulling pranks on the staff.
Surviving are children, Michelle (Chad) Tobey of Charlotte, Amanda (Cory) Hoepner of DeWitt, Christopher Marlowe of Dunlap and Chad Marlowe of Grand Mound; grandchildren, Cole Tobey, Carleigh Tobey and Carson Tobey, Piper Hoepner, Ryne Hoepner, Paxtyn Hoepner and Brooks Marlowe; his mother, Dardis Marlowe of Charlotte; siblings, Linda (Doug) Schmidt, Drew (Rhonda) Marlowe, and Stacey (Pat) Brown all of Charlotte; nieces and nephews.
Preceding Dean in death were his grandson, Maddux Hoepner; his father, David Marlowe and his brother, Leo Marlowe.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 23, 2020. A Cemetery Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2020, at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. Please bring lawn chairs. The Rev. Eric Obermann will officiate and burial will follow. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Marlowe, Chad Marlowe, Chad Tobey, Cory Hoepner, Cole Tobey and Carson Tobey. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff at Westwing Place.
