David Wayne Criswell

David Wayne Criswell, 47, of DeWitt, Iowa, died early Wednesday morning, July 1, 2020, at University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City.

He was born October 28, 1972, in Oregon City, Oregon, to Richard "Rick" and Judy  (Miller) Criswell.  David has been part of the Community Care and Imagine the Possibilities families for many years.  He was a longtime employee of their Vocational Worksites.  David was proud of his most recent job at Subway of DeWitt, washing dishes.

David loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, attending DeWitt Evangelical Free Church and had his own Bible to follow along.  He loved to sing "Jesus Loves Me", as he knew that Jesus loved him.  He especially enjoyed attending Truth Singers sessions with his friends and could often be seen standing in front, singing his heart out.  David's favorite song was "Amazing Grace" which he often requested at Truth Singers.  He had many interests and could be seen around town at many events.  David enjoyed hitting golf balls in the back yard and even had a putting green in the basement.  He had acquired many golf shirts.  David had an extensive home library with many Laura Ingalls Wilder books and was looking forward to checking out books from the new library in DeWitt. He loved to shop at the DeWitt Referral Center often searching for ties to add to his large collection.  David loved to sing karaoke, especially country music.  At Tunes in Town, he loved to get out onto the dance floor.  David will be missed by many in the community.

Surviving are his Imagine the Possibilities family; his mom, Judy of Eddyville and father, Rick of Portand, Oregon; siblings, Jodi Criswell, Jason Criswell and Justin Criswell; nieces, a nephew and friends.

A Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at the Evangelical Free Church, DeWitt with Pastor Jeff Niles officiating.  Interment will be at Pleasant Corners Cemetery, Eddyville.
