Darrel Lee Ryner, 78, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Genesis Hospital, DeWitt, following a brief illness.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on June 17, 2025, at Elmwood Cemetery in DeWitt.
Darrel Lee Ryner was born August 12, 1946, in DeWitt, Iowa, to Edward “Del” and Olivene (Hartson) Ryner. He attended schools in DeWitt, receiving an honorary diploma. Darrel worked at Barnes Grocery Store in DeWitt for 55 years. He enjoyed collecting model trains, walking around town, and eating at local restaurants, and taking bus tours all over the country.
He is survived by his sisters, Marlies Gries and Nancy Wiese, both of Davenport, Iowa; a sisters-in-law, Chong Ryner and Doris Ryner; nieces and nephews, and great- nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Darrel was preceded in death by a sister Bonnie (Don) Hahn, and brothers Dale, Albert “Glen”, and Steve Ryner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
