Craig Crowley Obituary

Craig Allan Crowley, 66, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at home.

Craig was born December 20, 1953, in DeWitt, Iowa to John “Jack” and Mary “Audrey” (Floerchinger) Crowley. After graduating from Galena (IL) High School he served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Elangen, Germany with the 2nd Bn. 81st Armor. Upon his return, he worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as a signalman, until his retirement.  Craig married Sally Kosin, who brought her son Chuck into the family, in 1977, and together they had a son John Craig and a daughter Jennifer Lynn. He later married Sandy Boyd on October 26, 2013, who had a son Joshua Molitor.

In his younger years, Craig enjoyed skiing and became an avid golfer. He was quick with his humor and loved being around friends and family. Craig was always fascinated with trains, enjoyed classic rock, and always enjoyed the opportunity to attend a rock concert with his friends. Buddy, his service dog and best friend, was his constant companion and learned how to assist Craig as his disability challenged his mobility.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; children Chuck (Ryanna) Selser of DeWitt,  John (Joy) Crowley of DeWitt, Jennifer (Clint) Plummer of Colorado Springs, CO, Joshua Molitor of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren Joshua, Jordyn, Lydia, Sydney, Clint, Sophia, Charlie, and Kevin; siblings, Janelle (Wesley Jost) Crowley of Galena, IL, Michaela (Mark) Havemann of Crystal Lake, IL, John “Yvo” (Kitty) Crowley of Park View, Meaghan Crowley Hunter of Chapin, SC; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Diane (Max Matthiesen) Crowley, a niece Liesel Fischer, and brother-in-law Dennis Hunter.

Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2020, at Schultz Funeral Home in DeWitt, Iowa, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt with the Rev. Fr. H. Robert Harness officiating.
