Clarence George Kinney

Mr. Clarence G. Kinney, 82, Grand Mound, Iowa, was welcomed Home to Heaven Monday morning, October 31, 2005 at Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt, Iowa.

Mr. Kinney was born April 24, 1923 in Garretson, South Dakota, the son of William and Mary (Early) Kinney. Clarence was united in marriage to the former Grace Green, May 6, 1944 in Grand Mound. The couple farmed for over 50 years at rural Grand Mound. Early in his life, Clarence worked at the local ASC office. He worked briefly at the J. I. Case Company prior to working in the tool crib at Caterpillar for 18 years, retiring in 1985.

Clarence was a member of SS Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound, Knights of Columbus, St. Patrick Society and Holy Name Society. He was a former Board Member at the Grand Mound Telephone Company for 30 years, was a former Township Trustee and was also a lifetime member of the Grand Mound Sportsman’s Club. Clarence enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and was an avid Hawkey and Chicago Cub Fan.

Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Grace; four sons, Thomas, DeWitt; Roger (Mary), Grand Mound; David (Laddawan), Davenport; and Brian (Cheryl), DeWitt; 11 daughters, Rita (Larry) Linnenbrink, Donahue, Iowa; Monica (Bill) Anderson, Grand Mound; Clarice (John) Sundeen, Memphis, Tennessee; Teresa (Carlie) Grimm, DeWitt; Mary Sundeen, DeWitt; Jolene (Michael) Whittemore, Davenport; Annette (Dale) Holst, DeWitt; Joyce (Patrick) Barnes, DeWitt; Roberta (Gilbert) Lewis, DeWitt; Camilla (James) Lancaster, DeWitt; Lisa (Doyle) Fox, DeWitt; 46 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Clarence in death were a grandson, Joshua Grimm; a son-in-law, Bernie Sundeen; his parents; five brothers, Anthony, Earl, William, Marvin and Edward; two sisters, Mary Lee and Susan Junk.

Family and friends may visit at SS Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound, from 2 until 7 p.m. Tuesday (today), November 1, 2005. Parish Vigil Service 7 p.m. Liturgy of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at The Church. The Rev. Fr. H. Robert Harness officiating. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Grand Mound.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Kinney, Alan Anderson, John David Sundeen, Nathan Whittemore, Adam Holst, Brandon Barnes, Jimmy Lancaster and Zachary Fox. Honorary pallbearers will be Alyssa Linnenbrink, Nicole Flowers, Megan Kinney, Sarah Grimm, Melissa Kinney, Amanda Sievers and Coleen Kinney.

A memorial fund has been established.
