Charles “Chuck” Jones, 73, of Wheatland, Iowa, died Monday afternoon, May 31, 2021, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport.
Charles Edward Jones Jr. was born July 25, 1947, to Charles and Dorothy (Sloan) Jones in Des Moines, Iowa. After graduating from Tech High School in Des Moines, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1965, serving on the U.S.S. LaSalle for 3 years. For over a decade, he was a conductor for Chicago Northwestern Railroad. He then worked for Ryko Manufacturing after obtaining an Associate’s Degree in electronics, retiring in 2010. He married Kari Eveland on October 5, 1985, in Altoona, Iowa.
Chuck was very active in his community, volunteering for the Wheatland Ambulance and serving as a Scoutmaster in the Wheatland Boy Scout Troop #37. He was an avid and talented woodworker, making furniture, toys, and plaques.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Bradley Orsted, Gardner, MT, Zachary (Jessica) Jones, Colorado Springs, CO, daughter, Sarah (Paul) Seitz, Paris, KY; grandsons, Beau and Carter Jones, granddaughter, Samantha Seitz; brother, John (Katie) Jones; 2 nieces and 2 great-nieces; and special family friend, Richard Bevan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant twin siblings, Danny and Diane, sister, Cindy Axser, and granddaughter, Marley Orsted.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at The Iowa Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2021.
