Charlotte Harroun, 84, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Harmony Davenport.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. A Service of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the church. Pastor Eric Obermann will officiate. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
Charlotte Louise Knutsen was born January 16, 1941, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Sylvester and Elsie (Hans) Knutsen of DeWitt. After graduating from DeWitt High School, Charlotte married Donald Nothdorf on November 20, 1960, at Grace Lutheran Church. They built their life in DeWitt, where they raised three children, and Charlotte worked as a secretary for U.C.C. and later Bethany Home. After Don’s passing in 2007, she married James Harroun on June 26, 2010.
Charlotte had a heart full of love and a spirit that welcomed the world. She cherished quiet mornings with a good book, found deep joy in worshiping at her church, and expressed her creativity through coloring—each stroke filled with care and calm. She and her family opened their home to the world as proud hosts of AFS students: Colin Lockhart from Australia, Isaac Attah from Ghana, Ricardo Brea from the Dominican Republic, and Johanna Maatta from Finland. Each of them became family, sharing in the warmth and generosity that Charlotte so effortlessly gave. Her grandsons will forever treasure the memories of Cubs games with Grandma—cheering from the stands, sharing hot dogs, and soaking up every moment. Above all, Charlotte loved her children with a fierce and tender devotion that never wavered. Her love shaped their lives and continues to echo in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
Surviving are her husband, Jim; her children, Jill (John) Gisel of DeWitt, Mark (Michele) Nothdorf of Wonder Lake, Illinois, and daughter-in-law, Linda Nothdorf; grandchildren, Zachary, Levi, Elijah and Erin Nothdorf; great-grandchildren Cayden and Eloise; siblings, Harold (Pat) Knutsen of Worthington, IA, Charles (Monna) Knutsen of Ft. McDowell, AZ, and Cheryl (Jerry) Wheeler of Mineral Point, WI; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her first husband, Don, she was preceded in death by her son, Scott, her twin sister, Charlene (Kenny) Paarmann, and foreign exchange son, Ricardo Brea.
Arrangements are in the care of Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Condolences may be expressed at www.schultzfuneralhomes.com
