Charles Walter Miller, 80, of Delmar, Iowa, passed away peacefully Friday, September 10, 2021, in his home.
Charles was born April 16, 1941, in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Walter and Marian (Bailey) Miller. After graduating from Delmar High School in 1958, he served in the U.S. Navy. He married Elaine Petersen on May 23, 1964, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Davenport, Iowa. The couple resided East of Delmar, in a house that Charles built. He worked as a carpenter/plumber and in maintenance for most of his life.
He enjoyed auctions and flea markets. He also enjoyed fishing, painting, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elaine; children, Diane (Mike Holmes) Wilhelm of Delmar, Scott (Leslee) Miller of Mankato, Minnesota, Rita (Dennis) Mueggenberg of Ames, Sarah (Daniel Wells) Miller of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Brian (Jill) Wilhelm, and Erik (Jessica) Wilhelm, Alexandra, Megan, and Luke Mueggenberg; many great-grandchildren; a brother, William (Wanda) Miller of Ankeny; a niece and nephew.
A private family service will be held. Charles will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, Delmar.
