Carolyn Ruth Lamp

Carolyn Lamp, 78, of Charlotte, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, Wednesday, August 11, 2021, following a battle with cancer.

Carolyn Ruth Thomas was born October 31, 1942, in Moline, Illinois, to Kennard and Ellen (Peterson) Thomas. She graduated from Erie High School in 1960 and went on to become a nurse, working at Jane Lamb Hospital in Clinton. On September 29, 1967, she was united in marriage to William Lamp at the Methodist Church in Albany, Illinois. The couple farmed and raised their five children on the Lamp family farm at rural Charlotte. William preceded her in death on October 15, 2016.

Carolyn was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte, serving as a member of the Ladies Circles. She enjoyed reading, coffee with friends, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, William T. Lamp of Charlotte, Brenda (Troy) McNay of Quincy, Illinois, Joanne (Mike) McConohy of DeWitt, Brent (Darla) Lamp of Clinton and Brian Lamp of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; grandchildren, William R. Lamp, Wyatt Lamp, Carrington Steen-Lamp, AJ McNay, Jordan McNay, Parker McNay, Thomas (Brittany) McConohy, Jenna (Chad) Kruse, John McConohy, Liam McConohy, Caitlin Lamp, Bronson Lamp, Maddison Daniels and Tristen Daniels; great-grandchildren, Barrett McConohy, Cash and Caleb Kruse, and a little girl due in September; a brother, Richard (Joyce) Thomas of Albany, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Linda Lamp of DeWitt; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Clifford Thomas, a brother-in-law, LeRoy Lamp, and sister-in-law, June (Gene) Hood.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2021. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2021, in the church. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Thomas McConohy, AJ McNay, Jordan McNay, Bronson Lamp, John McConohy, William R. Lamp, Parker McNay, Liam McConohy, and Wyatt Lamp. Honorary pallbearers will be, Jenna Kruse, Caitlin Lamp, and Carrington Steen-Lamp.
