Carol Jean Green

Carol Green, 79, of Welton, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, September 24, 2023.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Grossman Hall in Delmar.

Carol Jean Schulz was born August 31, 1944, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Herbert and Helen (Brockmiller) Schulz. She grew up and attended school in Calamus. She married Fritz Green on May 1, 1965. The couple put down their roots in Welton, where they raised 3 children. Carol was a loving homemaker who enjoyed spending time with and caring for her kids and grandkids.

Carol enjoyed spending time with her siblings, doing crossword puzzles, watching westerns, bowling leagues, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and boardgames, dancing at Fairyland Ballroom, and watching the birds and wildlife outside their window. She also liked to garden vegetables and flowers. Carol was an easygoing person with a spunky stubborn streak. She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. She’ll be missed for her caring nature, wisdom, and sassy comments.

Surviving are her husband, Fritz; children, Sharna Green of Welton, Matt (Sharon) Green of Miles, and Angie (Robin) Bates of Delmar; grandchildren, Justin (Brenda Reistroffer) Carder, Anthony (Lori Truelsen) Green, Taylor Bates, and Reaghan Bates; step-grandchildren, Nathan (Samantha) Jamison, and Bradley (Emma) Jamison; great-grandson, Jett Green; a brother, Mike (Tammy) Schulz; a sister-in-law, Betty Schulz; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Marvin “Butch”, Herbert “Herbie”, Richard, Joann, Cindy, and Karen.
