Carlie Grimm, 72, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away early Friday, October 4, 2024, in the comfort of his home, with loved ones by his side.
Carlie was born June 2, 1952, in DeWitt, Iowa to Walter and Lelah (Kellow) Grimm. He was a graduate of Central DeWitt Community Schools, class of 1970. Carlie was united in marriage to Teresa Sue Kinney on July 11, 1975, at Ss Philip & James Catholic Church in Grand Mound. Carlie worked at John Deere for 31 years before retiring. In the 1980s, during layoffs, he started mowing lawns, and grew his own landscaping business, Hawkeye Lawncare and Landscaping.
Carlie was a Master Gardener, a member of the U.A.W., and Ss Philip & James Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Teresa; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Michael Wagamon, and their children, Cole and Clare; a sister, Carolyn Lane; many loving in-laws and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his little boy, Joshua Walter in 1982, his parents, a brother, Harold D. “Lonnie” Grimm, and sisters, Connie and Betty.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Ss Philip & James Catholic Church, Grand Mound. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
