Camila Christine “CeCe” Barnes made a quick entry into the world Thursday, June 2, 2022, weighing 8 lbs. 8 oz and measuring 20.5 inches, with down-turned little lips (just like Sissy’s) an adorable button nose, and a full head of beautiful dark brown hair (also like brothers’ and sister). CeCe was immediately Life-Flighted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where she was diagnosed with a rare heart condition called TAPVR. During her short time with us, her determination was evident. She fought hard in a way that made her strong-willed siblings proud.
On June 4, 2022, at 4:53 in the afternoon, CeCe’s spirit left her body and joined her namesake, Great-Aunt Christine, in a better place along with many great-grandparents, family and friends waiting to love on her. CeCe passed on while being held by Daddy and getting kisses from Mommy.
Sweet CeCe will always be loved by her parents, Thomas and Rebecca (Braet) Barnes; her siblings, Oliver, 7, Amelia, 5 ½, and Calvin, 3; paternal grandparents, Greg and Sheri Barnes of DeWitt; maternal grandparents, Dirk and Annette Braet of Calamus; maternal great-grandmothers, Betty and Ruth; aunts and uncles, Matt (Beth) Barnes, Bethany (Kevin) Oberfoell, Daniel (Sadie) Braet, Darin Braet, and David (Christina) Braet; and cousins, Hannah, Davis, Dalton, Harper, Brooks, and Audrey.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Schultz Funeral Home in DeWitt. A private graveside service will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in DeWitt.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the team at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the U of I Stead Family Children's Hospital in Iowa City, for their dedication and care while CeCe was with them.
Arrangements are in the care of Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Condolences may be expressed at www.schultzfuneralhomes.com
