Bonnie Marie Hahn

Bonnie Marie Hahn, 80, of Henderson, Nevada, formerly of Charlotte, Iowa, died Friday, July 26, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt at 10:30 a.m. with visitation one hour prior.  In keeping with her wishes, a private burial service will be held for the couple’s cremated remains in the family plot in Calvary Cemetery, Grand Mound, Iowa.

Bonnie (Ryner) Hahn was born August 10, 1943, in DeWitt, Iowa. In 1960, she married Donald W. Hahn, of Grand Mound, Iowa. Mrs. Hahn was last employed at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. She began her career as Secretary for the Undergraduate Studies Department and went on to assume the position of Program Assistant for the Counseling Services Department, retiring from Palmer in June of 2012. Before beginning at Palmer, Mrs. Hahn was a Group Travel Consultant for AAA Travel in the Group Travel Department at the Bettendorf AAA office. While at AAA, she coordinated and managed travel arrangements for numerous large groups of travelers, including trips for Farm Journal and Plus 60 Club members. Mr. Hahn preceded her in death on October 10, 2016.

She was a wife, mother, homemaker, housekeeper, hairdresser, Certified Travel Counselor, college graduate, secretary, program assistant, artist, author, and friend.

She is survived by a daughter, Deanna Marie (Jim) Mackensen of Frankfort, Kentucky; the Mackensen’s 4 children, a son, Alexander (April) Mackensen with their 2 children, Tillian and Emma, and daughters Cassandra Mackensen, Nicole (Travis) McGlenn, and Kristina (James) Elekes; two sisters, Marlies Gries of Long Grove, Iowa, and Nancy Wiese of Davenport, Iowa; one brother, Darrel Ryner of DeWitt, Iowa; and Angel’s Nest Remember Me “Huck”, the Dalmatian performance dog she trained and took great pleasure in handling.

In addition to her beloved husband, Mrs. Hahn was preceded in death by her father, Edward Delbert Ryner “Del” Ryner, her mother, Olivene “Bean” Hartson, brothers, Dale Arnold, Steve Allen, Glenn, a son, Daniel William Hahn and 4 purebred AKC dogs she adored, a Collie named Summer Breeze Scara Bria “Bree”, a rescued Chinese Pug named Tanker and two show ring Great Danes, Farhill’s Dreamchaser “Chase” and Farhill’s Capture the Flag “Spice”; as well as numerous human relatives and friends, all of whom she treasured deeply.

Memorials may be made to the Clinton and Scott County Humane Societies, the Great Dane Rescue of America, the National Acoustic Neuroma Foundation and/or the DeWitt local poor through St. Joseph’s Church.
