Bob Peters Obituary

Bob Peters, 71, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Thursday morning, August 13, 2020, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Bobbie Lee Peters was born June 10, 1949, in Clinton to Leonard and Vera (Wulf) Peters. He was a 1967 graduate of Central Community Schools, DeWitt. On April 17, 1971, Bob married Phyllis Schroeder at Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. The couple resided in DeWitt all of their married life where they raised their daughter and son. He was employed by Liqui Grow, DeWitt plant and later for the Iowa Department of Transportation as an equipment operator until retirement in December 2015.

He was a longtime member of the DeWitt Volunteer Fire Department where he served as 1st Assistant Chief for many years. Bob was a man of great faith. He was loving husband, father and grandfather. Many family memories were created with his 1930 Ford Model A and 65 Mustang Convertible. He enjoyed camping and spending time maintaining their yard. His favorite roll in life was "Papa" and attending grandchildren's activities.

Surviving are his wife, Phyllis; children and their spouses, Lisa and Matthew Stueber of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Jeff and Jodee Peters of DeWitt; grandchildren, Noah Stueber, Leah Stueber, Hannah Peters, Hailee Peters and Jack Peters; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Sandy Peters of DeWitt; nieces and nephews.

Preceding Bob in death were his parents; an infant granddaughter and his twin brother, Jack.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, Dewitt from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 16, 2020. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 17, 2020, at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. Those attending the service are encouraged to bring a lawn chair. The Rev. Jealaine Marple will officiate. Honors will be provided by DeWitt Volunteer Fire Department. Burial will follow. Memorials are suggested to DeWitt Volunteer Fire Department or Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Pallbearers will be John McDonald, Kenny Geffers, Bob Sandry, Kevin Jansen, Brad Tobey, Kenny O'Connor and Mark Haack. Honorary pallbearers will be Dewitt Volunteer Fire Department members.
