Beverly Gay (Mueller) Ilg

Mrs. Beverly Ilg, 87, of DeWitt, Iowa, died early Thursday morning, May 6, 2021, at Bickford Assisted Living, Clinton.

The former Beverly Gay Mueller was born July 31, 1933, at rural Calamus to the late Clarence and Edith (Smith) Mueller.  She graduated from Calamus High School.  Bev married Melvin Ilg April 18, 1953, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound.  In addition to raising two sons, she worked at Service Rubber and Springbrook Country Club,  Bev and her husband owned and operated the Tastee Freez in Dewitt.  Later she worked at Skeffington's Jack and Jill until retirement.  Melvin preceded Bev in death April 28, 2014.

She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt.  Bev loved to cook, bake cookies, garden and fish.  She was a great seamstress and enjoyed crocheting.  Most of all, Bev loved spending time with her family and trips to Wisconsin from where they would bring home freezers of fish.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Sherrie Ilg of Shueyville, Iowa, and Lindy and Anita Ilg, DeWitt; grandchildren, Melissa (Oliver) East, Bryan (Stephanie) Ilg, Candace (Kendall) Claeys, Allyson (Cassin) Moseley, Hunter Ilg and Tasia Ilg; great-grandchildren, Colton Claeys, Asher Claeys, Benjamin Claeys, Felix East, Ellasyn Ilg, Isaac East, Deacon Ilg, Chloe East and Jules Moseley; nieces and nephews.

Also preceding Bev in death were grandsons, Reece Ilg and Justin Ilg and siblings, Dale Mueller and Dolores Johnson.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. Monday, May 17, 2021.  A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Church with the Rev. Eric Obermann officiating.  Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
