Betty Lynn (Twigg) McGarry

Betty L. McGarry, 67, of Milan, Illinois, formerly of DeWitt, Iowa, died early Wednesday morning, January 27, 2021, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf following complications of a stroke.

The former Betty Lynn Twigg was born February 15, 1953, to LeRoy Twigg and Elnora "Midge" (Bunce) Twigg.  She married Richard Thomas McGarry November 26, 1977, at the Maquoketa Pentecostal Church.  The couple were blessed with two children, Traci and Brian.  Betty worked as a customer service manager at Walmart in Davenport for over 25 years. 

Betty was an avid Bingo player and reader and enjoyed having buffet lunches with friends.  More than anything, she enjoyed family get-togethers and spending time with loved ones, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband, Richard; children, Traci McGarry and her husband, Bryant Hammond of Nome, Alaska, and Brian McGarry and his wife, Brandy of Milan; grandchildren, Taylor Camp, Lexi (Austin) Leach, Mya Bragg and Brycen McGarry; a great-grandson, Houston Camp; her mother, Midge Twigg of Westwing Place, DeWitt and brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Bobbie Twigg of DeWitt; a special friend, Ellen Dalton of Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her father, grandparents and close friend, Bee Dalton.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2021.  A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2021, in the funeral home and may be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/schultzfuneralhomes/live with Pastor Troy Hythecker officiating.  Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.  In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests memorials to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
