Barbara Jean “Barb” Kelly, 68, of Wheatland, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

A Service of Christian Burial will be held at Christian Free Lutheran Church, Wheatland on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Wheatland.

Barbara Jean Kelly was born February 16, 1958, in Vinton, Iowa, to Donald Max and Lois Maxine (Kellogg) Dawson. She married Kris Alin Kelly on December 14, 1973. Together, they built a life centered around family, love, and unwavering support for one another. They resided in Evansdale, Hiawatha, and finally Wheatland. Much of Barb’s life was devoted to caring for her family and creating a warm home.

Barb enjoyed crafting, thrifting, cooking, and especially spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her laughter, generosity, and deep love for those around her. Barb consistently placed the needs of her family before her own and faced her battle with cancer with remarkable strength and endurance. Nothing brought her more happiness than being surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Kris; her children, Joshua Kelly (Andrew Hilliard) of Atkins, Melissa (Ryan) Berding of Bettendorf, and Lindsey Weires of Bettendorf; grandchildren, Natalie Kelly, Nathan Kelly, Katelin Aldrich, Devin Aldrich, Sophia Berding, Keagan Berding, Jordan Weires, Jason Weires, and Lillian Weires; her first great-grandchild, Raelynn Jaymes Beyer, who was born on May 12, 2026; her sister, Debbie Webster (Mike Hansen); sisters-in-law, Louise Dawson, Elly Dawson, and Eldora Dawson; along with many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Lois Dawson; brothers, Leslie Dawson, Jimmy Dawson, and Danny Dawson; and her sister, Patty Bergmann.
