Barbara Elaine Griep

Barbara Elaine Griep, 83, of DeWitt, Iowa, died December 18, 2021, at Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf Iowa.

Barbara was born July 10, 1938, to Wilbert and Berniece (Bender) Riedesel and called Grand Mound, home.  On April 28, 1957, Barbara married Jerry Griep. The couple moved to DeWitt where they began farming and started a family.  They raised Rodney of DeWitt, Brian of DeWitt and Lisa (Troy) Haines of Weldon, IL.  Barb enjoyed tomato gardening, playing cards and going out to supper with friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings Aleatha Riedesel, Marilyn Ganzer and John Riedesel.

In addition to her children, survivors include grandchildren Jeremiah (Kayleen) Griep of DeWitt, Julia (Ryan) Lieferman of Eldridge, Jamie (Brandon) Bowman of Donahue, and RJ (Alyssa) Griep of Indianola and great grandchildren Oliver, Damian, Joslyn and Walter, and her brother Wilbert Ried.

Family and friends will gather at Schultz Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021. A procession will follow to Elmwood Cemetery for a graveside service.
