Alice Mae (Eberhart) Butt

Alice Mae (Eberhart) Butt, 86, of Charlotte, Iowa, passed peacefully on Sunday January 8, 2023, surrounded by family at Fieldstone of DeWitt.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 11, 2023, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 12, in the funeral home, Sister Janet Heiar officiating. Burial will follow at Monmouth Cemetery.

Alice was born December 10, 1936, with a twin sister, Mary, to Albert and Rosa (Voss) Eberhart. Alice graduated from Charlotte High school. She was united in marriage to Maurice Butt on April 18, 1955. They were married 40 years and raised 8 children together, 7 boys and 1 girl. Alice was a member of Assumption Catholic church, and The Charlotte Trail riders. She worked at the Charlotte bakery, and she enjoyed working seasonally at Eberhart farm center in Maquoketa.

Pallbearers will be Grandsons, Shawn, Jason, Quint, Justin, Scott, Ben, and Mitch Butt, and Nathan Kloft. Honorary Pallbearers will be granddaughters and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Theresa (Allen) Kloft, sons, Onie (Mary), Larry (Bethie), Wade (Janeen),

Philip (Lisa), Ed (Jane), Merlin (Michelle); 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe (Davonne) Eberhart; sisters, Janet (Don) Parker, Rose O’Meara, Helen Burken, sisters-in-law, Joyce Eberhart and Marlene (Robert) Milota; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, son Gilbert, grandson Michael, twin sister Mary Witt, brothers, William (Tootie), Robert (Agnes), Walter (Carole), and Earl Eberhart.
