Virginia (Mrs. Harold) DeLange, 92, of Grand Mound, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at Westwing Place, DeWitt, Iowa.
Mrs. DeLange, the former Virginia Ruth Vetter, was born April 20, 1926, to Robert and Ruth (Gostick) Vetter, in DeWitt, Iowa. After graduating from high school, Virginia was united in marriage to Harold J. DeLange on June 1, 1947 in DeWitt. The couple resided in Grand Mound, where she raised their family and assisted with the family’s pharmacy. Harold preceded her in death on February 3, 2018, following 70 years of marriage.
Virginia was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Grand Mound and the Grand Mound American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, walking on the beach, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Harold J. and Polly DeLange II of Davenport, Robert DeLange of DeWitt, and Nancy and Ken Rohwedder of Davenport; grandchildren, Andy (Kate), Kyle, Tony, Dania (Dan), and Eryn; great-grandchildren, Levi, Abby, Nadia, and Tristen; a sister, Roberta “Carol” Walker; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Furman Walker.
Visitation will be from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2019, at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound. A Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Denice Anderberg officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Mound.
