Thomas Edward Gebauer, 75, of Eldridge, Iowa, formerly of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018, in the comfort of his home at Grand Haven Retirement Community.
Tom was born July 23, 1943, to Joseph and Nora (Ireland) Gebauer in Akron, Colorado. After graduating from Akron High School, he received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Colorado State University. He worked many years with John Deere and later JRB in DeWitt. He married Edith Ratliff in 2003. She preceded him in death in 2011.
Tom was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in DeWitt. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, trap shooting, and was an avid gun collector.
Tom is survived by daughters, Tamela Gebauer of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Trina (Tony) Blair and Tresha (Dale) Ambrosy both of Long Grove, and their mother, Beverly Koppes; sons, Jeffrey (Sarah) Gebauer of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Jared (Rita Murray) Gebauer of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and their mother, Joanne Gebauer; grandchildren, Austin (Justine), Jordyn, Karlee, Conner, Tyler, Liam, Roman, Fiona, and Eric; great-grandchildren, Beckett and Ruger; siblings, Agnes Friedly, Richard (Linda) Gebauer, Rose Hazlett, and Patrick (LuAnn) Gebauer; a sister-in-law, Dolly Gebauer; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Edie, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Joe Gebauer, and an infant brother, Billy.
Memorial Visitation will be from 9:00 until the service time of 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Cornerstone Baptist Church in DeWitt. Interment will be in Akron, Colorado at a later date.
