Mrs. Shirley M. Sauppé, 84 of DeWitt, Iowa, died peacefully Saturday morning, August 5, 2017, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family

Shirley Mae Helen Schiedemeyer was born July 5, 1933, in Leroy, Wisconsin to the late Arthur and Marie (Mueller) Schiedemeyer.   She was a 1951 graduate of Messmer High School.  Shirley married James Raymond Sauppé in St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  The couple resided in Kansas City, Kansas, Strongsville, Ohio and Naperville, Illinois.  Jim preceded Shirley in death February 24, 1989. 

Surviving are children, Ramona Sweeney of Brunswick, Ohio, Theodore (Janice) Sauppé of Avon Lake, Ohio, Fr. Timothy Sauppé of Westville, Illinois, Cheri (Joseph) Cyzewski of Forest Lake, Minnesota, Suzanne (Richard) Saintey of Rosemount, Minnesota and Rochelle (Paul) Callender of Charlotte; grandchildren, Rick (Chelsie) Saintey, Jr., Brian (Corrin) Saintey, James Saintey, Jason (Allison) Sauppé, Joshua Sauppé, Stacy Sauppé, Amanda (Lee) Jacobsen, Leanne (Marshall) Nicolay, Kyle Callender, Samantha Callender and Joseph Cyzewski; great-grandchildren, Kyle Petry, Owen Saintey, Addisen Saintey, Rylen Saintey, Duncan Saintey, Rocco Saintey, Aleena Nicolay, Kinley Nicolay, Ryleigh Nicolay and Raymond Sauppé; siblings, Arlene Doleschy, Cyril (Diane) Schiedemeyer, Daniel (Diane) Schiedemeyer and James (Lori) Schiedemeyer; a sister-in-law, Jan Schiedemeyer.

Preceding Shirley in death in addition to her husband and parents were her granddaughter, Theresa Sweeney and siblings, Bernice (Henry) Feucht, Howard (Bernie) Schiedemeyer, Alice (Bob) Jakus, Francis (Edith) Schiedemeyer, Arthur (Romell) Schiedemeyer, Kathleen (Gene) Waddell and Ronald Schiedemeyer; a brother-in-law, Richard Doleschy.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt from 3:00 until 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2017, with a rosary at 2:30 p.m. and a time of sharing from 5:30 until 5:50 p.m.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the church with the Rev. Fr. Stephen Page officiating with a dessert and beverage reception to follow.  Visitation will continue from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel, 7301 West Nash Street, Milwaukee followed by the Rite of Committal and burial.  Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. 

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials are suggested to Pro-Life Woman’s Choice Center, PO Box 549 Bettendorf, Iowa 52722 or St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt sister parish in San Pierre, Haiti.
