Sarah (Kruse) Holmes

Sarah Holmes, 75, formerly of Samamish, Washington, passed away Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019, at her home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. 

A Celebration of Life was held Oct. 15 at Cedar Valley Bible Church in Cedar Rapids.  A service will be held at a later date in Seattle.

Sarah was born Oct. 5, 1944, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Miriam Kleih Kruse. She moved to Dewitt at a young age and later to Davenport, where she graduated from Davenport West High School. She attended both the University of Iowa and the Art Institute of Chicago, where she studied Fashion and Design.  Sarah married Thomas Holmes of Cedar Rapids. They moved to Bellevue, and Issaquah, Washington, where they raised two daughters. After 47 years they moved back to Cedar Rapids in October 2017.

Sarah is survived by her husband Tom, of Cedar Rapids and daughters, Hillary Winkler, of Oregon and Ashley Holmes-Stutz of Washington; six grandchildren; a sister, Susan Porth of DeWitt. 

Memorials may be made to the DeWitt Fire Department.
