Phyllis Anne (Meek) Adamson

December 29, 1939 ~ March 5, 2018 (age 78)

Phyllis A. Adamson, 78, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Monday morning, March 5, 2018, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice, Bettendorf.
Phyllis Anne Meek was born December 29, 1939, in Washington, DC, to William Wendell and Cleo Evelyn (Boyer) Meek and was of the Methodist religion.  She graduated from Annandale High School in Annandale, Virginia, and attended Iowa State University.  Phyllis later finalized her Education Degree at Marycrest College in Davenport.  She taught Home Economics and English at Calamus High School.   On November 12, 1960, she married Edward Adamson in Princeton, Missouri. The couple resided in Eastern Iowa and settled on a farm south of Calamus in 1975 where they raised their children, Brenda and Mike.  They also helped raise the light of their life, grandson, Dane Rambo.  Phyllis and Ed continued to reside there until moving to DeWitt in 2011.  Ed preceded Phyllis in death on February 14, 2012.
She wasa  longtime member of Wapsi Oaks and Springbrook Country Club.  Phyllis was a fantastic cook and homemaker and loved family genealogy.  She loved spending time with family and friends and also her faithful and devoted dog, Gracie.  Phyllis especially loved the beach.
Surviving are her grandson, Dane Rambo of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; siblings, Melinda (Jim) Smoldt of Reinbeck, Iowa, Dana Caldwell of Cypress, Texas, David (Frances) Meek of Sebastian, Florida, Suzanne Foxman of Alameda, California; nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Gracie.
In addition to her husband, Ed, Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Mike Adamson and a daughter, Brenda Adamson-Rambo.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the United Methodist Church, DeWitt from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018.  A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the church with Pastor Tom Boomershine officiating.  Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Mound.  Memorials are suggested to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, University of Iowa Children's Hospital or the charity of the donor's choice.
