Patricia Jean (Kavanaugh) Overstake

Mrs. Patricia J. Overstake, 88, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Friday afternoon, February 9, 2018, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

She was born January 2, 1930, in Bottineau, North Dakota, to the late John and Emma (Costly) Kavanaugh.  Pat graduated from St. Joseph High School, DeWitt and received teaching certification from Mount St. Clare College, Clinton.  On May 30, 1955, Pat married Jack Overstake at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt.  She worked as a Respiratory Therapy Aid at DeWitt Community Hospital and Mercy Hospital, Clinton until retirement in 1995. Her husband preceded her in death on June 1, 2000.  

Pat was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt and the altar and rosary society.  She enjoyed doing handiwork, reading and spending time with her children and their families.

Surviving are children, Penny (Frank) Soboleski of Bowling Green, Ohio, Nickalet "Nicky" Overstake of Davenport, Dawn (Stephen) Wolfcale of DePere, Wisconsin, Mark Overstake of Marion, Matt (Jean) Overstake of Fort Worth, Texas, Mikel (Elisa) Overstake of Delmar and John (Stephanie) Overstake of Davenport; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Arthur (Sharon) Kavanaugh of Cave Creek, Arizona; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Nickoles and a sister, Beverly Brewster.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2018, with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt with the Rev. Fr. Stephen Page officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  In lieu of other expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice, House.  

Pallbearers will be Adam Soboleski, Joshua Soboleski, Aaron Soboleski, Daniel Overstake, Remington Overstake and Hunter Overstake.   Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Soboleski, Stephen Wolfcale, Mark Overstake, Matthew Overstake, Mikel Overstake, John Overstake, Micah Sololeski, Jesse Soboleski and Austin Wolfcale.
