Pamela May Hartung

Pamela May Hartung, age 55, took her final breath of earthly air and stepped into the arms of her Savior on Thursday, February 8, 2018 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

She was born March 28, 1962 in Southbridge, Massachusetts, to Harry and Harriet Jewell, the youngest of four children. Pamela is the beloved wife of David Hartung, mother of five: Sarah Hartung, Caleb (Julia) Hartung, Enoch (Emma) Hartung, Abigail (Barry) Hartwell, and Esther (Travis) McPherson; and grandmother to Jewell, Creed, Dawson, baby boy Hartwell on the way, and baby girl (Ella May McPherson) on the way. She is also survived by her three siblings: Patricia (Howard) Rowe, Barbara (Ray) Stanford, and James (Debra) Jewell; and 12 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Harry Wade Jewell; mother Harriet Louise Jewell; sister Barbara Ann Jewell; nephew Matthew Rowe; sister-in-law Lori Jewell; and mother-in-law Sally Marie Hartung.

Pamela was a devoted follower of Jesus who poured her life into her family. She adored her husband and her children. She home-schooled all her children through high-school, and remained involved in their lives, and the lives of her grandchildren. She extended her heart and time not only to family, but to scores of others, young and old. For decades, Dave and Pamela’s home has been a place of learning, compassion and refuge (and a lot of fun).

There will be a time of memorial visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018, at Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe Street NE, Rockford, MI 49341. The memorial service for Pamela will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Pederson Funeral Home. Rev. Maynard Belt will be officiating. There will also be a one hour memorial visitation prior to the service.
