Lynne N. Bisson

The Rev. Lynne N. Bisson, 76, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019, in her home.

Lynne was born August 19, 1942, in Clinton, Iowa, to Larry and Elsie (Bugbee) Bisson. After graduating from Clinton High School, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Arts in Counseling from Northeast Missouri State University. She worked as a counselor for schools in Missouri and Iowa, then worked for the Missouri Department of Mental Health. After moving to California, Lynne worked in real estate, and was then employed by Westinghouse as a Quality Circle Facilitator, and later as a branch manager.

Returning to Iowa, Lynne entered seminary and received a Master of Divinity from University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. She was ordained by the Eastern Iowa Association of the United Church of Christ in 1999 at her home church, Community Congregational UCC in Clinton. She served as pastor in Eldora, Faith UCC in Iowa City, Rock Rapids, Marengo, and Wheatland, retiring in 2009.

Lynne was a member of the First Congregational UCC, DeWitt, and The Order of The Eastern Star, Clinton. While serving in Rock Rapids, she was a member of Kiwanis and served on the board of United Way. She also served a term as moderator for the Northwest Association of the Iowa Conference of the United Church of Christ.

Lynne is survived by many friends, and her cat, Lucy. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the First Congregational UCC, DeWitt, Rev. Chris Marlin-Warfield officiating. Memorials may be made to the church.
