Lucille Irene (Fine) Stanley

October 27, 1919 ~ February 25, 2018 (age 98)

Mrs. Lucille Irene Stanley, 98, of DeWitt, Iowa, formerly of New Market, Iowa, died peacefully Sunday morning, February 25, 2018, at Westwing Place, DeWitt.

Lucille Irene Fine was born October 27, 1919, in Taylor County, Iowa, to the late Ralph and Viva (Shields) Fine.  She attended country school in Siam, Iowa, and graduated from New Market High School in 1937.  Lucille did secretarial work for several years following graduation.  On January 9, 1943, she was united in marriage to George Francis Stanley in Junction City, Kansas, where George was stationed with the United States Army.  Following his discharge from service, the couple purchased a farm near Siam in 1945 where they lived and enjoyed farming for 36 years.  While living there, their loving union was blessed with a daughter, Patricia Ann.  In 1981 they retired to New New Market and resided there until moving to DeWitt in 2001 to be closer to Patricia and her family.   George preceded Lucille in death January 16, 2003, following 60 years of marriage.

She was baptized July 20, 1930, in the Siam Church of Christ.  Lucille's faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior was very important to her through daily Bible reading and prayer.  Her church continued to be an important part of her life where she remained a faithful and willing member.  In DeWitt she attended Grace Lutheran Church.  Lucille will be lovingly remembered for her wonderful cooking and her love for her husband, daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Douglas Schultz of DeWitt; grandchildren, Sarah (Ray) Ackerman of DeWitt and Diane (Paul) Stachewicz of Lakeville, Minnesota; great-grandchildren, Raymond and Kyle Ackerman and Brandon, Bryce and Elyse Stachewicz; sisters and a brother-in-law, Edith Naven of Clarinda, Iowa and Hope and Bill Pratt of New Market; nieces and nephews, Jo and Lou Blackney, Gordon and Marty Pratt and Billie Joyce and Karl Hodge.

Also preceding Lucille in death were a sister and brothers-in-law, Elsie Rose and Richard Burton and Hollis Naven.

The family will receive friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018.  A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Ron Rafferty officiating.  Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Ackerman, Brandon Stachewicz, Kyle Ackerman, Bryce Stachewicz, Elyse Stachewicz and Paul Stachewicz.
