Kathleen Mary Allen

Kathleen Allen, 62, of Calamus, Iowa, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home early Saturday morning, November 3, 2018.

Kathy was born June 27, 1956, to Raymond and Darlene (Beresford) Fries in Dubuque, Iowa. After graduating from Wahlert Catholic High School in Dubuque, Kathy received her nursing degree from the Franciscan School of Nursing. Kathy worked as a Registered Nurse at several hospitals for over 30 years. She also provided in-home care for her mother-in-law. Kathy married Mike Allen on September 10, 2005. The couple resided in Calamus.

Kathy was incredibly talented and active. She kept busy with refinishing furniture, gardening, canning, doing crossword puzzles, and caring for her pets. She also enjoyed cooking and baking. Kathy never forgot to send a card for any occasion.

She is survived by her adoring husband, Mike; sons and step-sons, Norman Siglow of Knoxville, Tennessee, Derek Siglow of Tempe, Arizona, Aaron and Brandon Allen both of Loyal, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Aaliyah, Alyssa, Andrea and Riley Allen, and Sky and Forest Allen; brothers, Tom (Margie) Fries, Gary (Elaine) Fries, and Ted (Paula) Fries; a sister, Diane Pickel; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial Visitation will be from 11:00 until 1:45 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, with a Memorial Service following at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
