Donna F. (Mrs. Donald) Griep, 82, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Thursday afternoon, December 14, 2017, at Westwing Place, DeWitt.

Donna Faye Oesterborg was born October 2, 1935, in Clinton to the late Donald and Mona (Kanneberg) Oesterborg.  She was a graduate of DeWitt High School.  On October 24, 1953, Donna married Donald L. Griep at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.  The couple farmed and raised their family at rural DeWitt near Elvira.  Later, Donna worked as the activity director at Wyndcrest Nursing Center in Clinton.

She was an active member of Elvira Zion Lutheran Church.  Donna loved to polka and was a member of polka clubs in Eastern Iowa and Arizona.  She also loved time she and Don spent in Arizona with family and friends.  Donna was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren as well as many other children.  It was almost impossible to escape Donna’s presence without a hug.

Surviving are her loving husband of 64 years, Donald; children, James (Danita) Griep of Schaller, Linda (Lindell “Skeeter”) Gosney of Littleton, Colorado, and Diane (Tom) Smull of Colorado Spring, Colorado; 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Darlene (Kermit) Henningsen of Deloit; nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2017.  A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Elvira Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jealaine Marple officiating.  Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Memorials may be made to Elvira Zion Lutheran Church or Westwing Place activity fund.
