Charles L. Wolever
May 3, 1941 ~ November 4, 2017 (age 76) 76 Years OldCharles L. Wolever, 76, of Grand Mound, Iowa, died Saturday morning, November 4, 2017, at Genesis Medical Center-East, Davenport.
Chuck was born May 3, 1941, in Clinton, Iowa, to Robert L. and Madge G. (Steffey) Wolever. He graduated from Clinton High School. Chuck owned and operated several body shops and used car lots throughout his life. He served as a police officer in Fulton, Illinois and Fredonia, Kansas. He also served on reserve with the Clinton Police Department. He married Nancy Doellman on August 13, 1993, in Bettendorf.
He was a member of the Grand Mound Volunteer Fire Department, the N.S.R.A., and several car clubs. Chuck enjoyed being on the move, collecting Hot Wheels, scale model cars, and coins. His most continuous passions were candy, cars, his canines and cats. Chuck loved having his family and friends around him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years Nancy Wolever; children Dawn (Mike) Cripps of Ft. Dodge, Chuck (Marie) Wolever of Bettendorf, Dana (Paul) Sparks of Clinton, and Janelle Alter of Grand Mound; grandchildren Ronnie, Ashlee, Easten, Kelsi, Dyllan, Makenzi, Preston, Caden, Broc, and Lane; great-grandchildren Cheyann, Cody, Elizabeth, and Andrew; a brother Bill (Sue) Wolever of Camanche; a brother-in-law Gary Koenes; several nieces and nephews; and an uncle Melvin Steffey of Clinton.
He was preceded in death by a brother Bruce, his parents, a grandson Matthew Wolever, and his sister Priscilla Koenes.
Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound. A Funeral Service will follow at 12 noon in the funeral home. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Mound.
