Carole L. (Ketelsen) Eberhart

Mrs. Carole L. Eberhart, 82, of Charlotte, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, December 26, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton.

Carole Lorraine Ketelsen was born October 1, 1935, in Charlotte to Emil A. and Emma (Ploog) Ketelsen.  Carole graduated as class valedictorian from Charlotte High School in 1953.  She married Walter E. Eberhart in Charlotte September 13, 1958; he preceded her in death on December 22, 1981.  Carole worked at the Clinton County ASC Office in DeWitt for several years.  She later worked at Goose Lake Savings Bank and then Gateway State Bank, retiring as vice president after 30 years.  

A lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Charlotte, Carole served as the organist for 62 years and as church treasurer for many years.  She was also a member of the church choir, Immanuel 70 Society and the Ladies Circle.  Additionally, Carole assisted with the Charlotte Web and other community activities.  She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, rarely missing a school or athletic event.  Carole liked to garden, watch sports and read.  

Carole is survived by children, Shelly (Kenny) Mohr of Fulton, Illinois, Patti (Rick) Christiansen of DeWitt and Andrew (Cathy) Eberhart of Clinton; grandchildren, Kelly (Eric) Hosette, Nick Mohr, Rayce Christiansen, Renee Christiansen, Madison Eberhart and McKenna Eberhart; a great-granddaughter, Addalyn Hosette; siblings, Janice (Duane) Eldred of Urbana and  Donna (Harlan) Dell of Clinton and Tom (Madonna) Ketelsen of Charlotte; nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017, in the church with the Rev. Anthony Dodgers officiating.  Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.  In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte.  

Pallbearers will be Rayce Christiansen, Nick Mohr, Eric Hosette, Kevin Dell, Kirt Dell and Chad Ketelsen.
