Angie Reemtsma Obituary

Angela Marie “Angie” Reemtsma, 45, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully, Friday morning, October 19, 2018, in the comfort of her home.

Angie was born July 8, 1973, in Clinton, Iowa, and grew up on a farm west of Grand Mound. She attended Calamus-Wheatland School, where she was a member of the 1991 state runner-up golf team. As a freshman, she had a hole-in-one at Wapsi Oaks Country Club. After graduating in 1991, Angie received a degree in social work from Kirkwood Community College and worked in Cedar Rapids and Clinton for several years. She then returned to school and received a degree in nursing from Clinton Community College and worked as an LPN in the rehab unit at Genesis-West in Davenport. Angie married Phillip Reemtsma on June 14, 2003, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt, where she is a member. The couple resided in DeWitt, where they raised their two sons, Jacob, 20, and Nicholas, 13.

Angie’s main focus was caring for her family. She was a good cook and enjoyed trying new recipes for them. She was very involved in her family’s many activities. She was very supportive of Nic and Jacob as they participated in 4-H. She enjoyed watching the boys compete at the county and state fair. Angie faithfully attended school events and programs and she loved watching her boy’s athletic events, especially baseball. Family holidays and reunions were also very important to her and she rarely missed a Kroymann or Olson family Christmas. She also enjoyed golfing, swimming, and dancing. She was thrilled to be living in the family’s new home, built in 2015, which she designed and decorated. In recent years, as illness kept her from other activities, she cherished lunch dates with her girlfriends.

Angie’s strong faith and supportive family and friends helped sustain her through difficult times. Although she had several health challenges in the last few years, she never complained, and her spirit and inner-strength were an inspiration to everyone who knew and met her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Phil; sons, Jacob and Nicholas; parents, Harry and Jean Olson of DeWitt; sisters, Jenny (Marty) Murrell and their children, Moira and Maclane all of Charlotte, Kristine Olson of DeWitt, Colleen (Ryan) Schroeder and their children, Anna and Dylan all of Delmar; mother and father-in-law, Walter and Jan Reemtsma of Algona; brother-in-law, Doug (Serena) Reemtsma and their children Tyler, Kali, Natalee, Abbi, and Zachary all of Algona; sister-in-law, Angie (Jeff) Weiner and their children, Ben, Cameron, and Ainsley all of Maple Grove, Minnesota; and sister-in-law, Michelle (Jayson) Bierstedt and their children, Hayden, Emmitt, and Maisey all of Whittemore.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Ralph and Ellenor Kroymann, Nels and Alice Olson, and William and Joan Reed.
