Wesley F. Williams

Wesley F. Williams, 88, formerly of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 31, 2024, at home in Walcott, Iowa.

Visitation will be Friday, April 5, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. Following the visitation, Military Rites will be observed outside the funeral home at 6:00 p.m. Private burial will take place at the Masonic Cemetery in Tipton.

Wesley Frederick Williams was born October 30, 1935, in Tipton, Iowa to the late Walter and Norma (Ohrt) Williams. He grew up in Cedar County, helping on the family farm. Wes served his country in the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. Following his service, he married Barbara “Joan” Graham on December 24, 1955, at the United Methodist Church, Tipton. The couple owned and operated Double W Trucking Company, Inc. of DeWitt for over 50 years until retirement. Joan preceded him in death in 2015.

He enjoyed fishing, watching the birds, growing flowers, riding his bike, inventing and tinkering, and morning coffee with the guys. He always enjoyed attending his grandchildrens’ school and sporting events.

He is survived by his son, Randy Williams of Walcott; grandchildren, Bindi (John) Castillo, Krystal (Crystal) Bolser, Logan Williams and Austin Williams; great-grandchildren, Chase, Savannah, Cody and Ashton Edwards, Kyle and Hunter Castillo, Tyler and Taylor; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Lemon; many nieces and nephews; a beloved nurse, Missy; and many loved “adopted” grandkids.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Williams, and grandson, Kenny Edwards, a brother-in-law, Frank Lemon, and “adopted” son, Brent LaMaack.
