David Evans Obituary

David L. Evans, 86, formerly of Bradley, Illinois, died Monday, February 26, 2024, at Genesis East-Campus, Davenport.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024 at, Camp Butler, 5063 Camp Butler Road, Springfield, IL.   Following the ceremony, there will be a celebratory toasting of drinks at The Oaks Golf Course, 851 Dave Stockton Drive, Springfield, IL at 1:30 p.m.  We will buy the first round to cheers to Dave, if you would like to partake in more then one, please bring cash or card.  Following the golf celebration, you are invited for a lunch-in at Steve and Lisa Turrell’s home for pizza and snacks. 

David was born February 12, 1938, in Kankakee, Illinois, to Adolf and Madalyn (St. Pierre) Evans. He attended North Central College where he played football. David then served in the U.S. Army. Soon thereafter, he married his true love, Erva Kettleson in 1958. The couple raised their children, David Jr., and Lisa, in Kankakee, later moving to Morris, finally residing in Bradley. David worked in the Chicagoland area as a successful sales professional. Erva preceded him in death on August 5, 2009. He later married Patricia DeCarlo. She preceded him in death in 2017.

David was an avid and skilled amateur golfer, winning countless tournaments with 17 verified holes-in-one.

Surviving are his children, David (Jeanie) Evans Jr., and Lisa (Steve) Turrell; grandchildren, Matthew, David III “D.J.”, Thomas, and Ashley Evans, and Chad and Andy Turrell; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Karen Campbell, John (Barb) Evans, and Pamela Perrsson.

In addition to his wife Erva, and his second wife, Pat, he was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Judith (Roger Sr.) Strode, and brother-in-law, Michael Persson.

In lieu of flowers or other gifts, those wishing to honor Dave should play a round of golf and think of his memory.

Dave will be laid to rest with his first wife, Erva, at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois, at a later date.
